It is quite interesting to note that out of 130 species of orchids found in Odisha, 93 of them can be spotted in the jungles of Simlipal.

Also, the white flowers of Dendrobium nobile can be seen only in Similipal. Pecterlis gigantean, with its large white flowers, a fan-shaped fringed lip and a very long spur, is the most spectacular orchid found in mossy fields. The sal, asan, simuli and mango trees host the exotic flowers.
Cutting through the forests, are the numerous streams that beautify the ambience more. Gudugudia, Meghasanai, Barenipani, Debasthali and Jenabil regions offer a perfect joy of enjoying and admiring the blossoming orchids.
Apart from their beauty, orchids are also very useful flowers and are used in number of other ways like in medicines, perfumes and also own commercial value.
